Fresh Air Counselling

Karin has been offering traditional ‘room-based counselling sessions’ in Lismore since many years.
Now the offering has been extended to outdoor counselling located on a boutique farm on the North Lismore plateau.
Many clients feel more inclined to being open about their inner and outer world while in a Nature setting where they also have the option to move their bodies while talking.
On the farm is the opportunity to expand into animal assisted therapy. Being around horses and other farm animals a natural awareness and effortless focus arise in humans.
Getting to feel more inner presence as we move with and around the horses is empowering. The horses are gentle, very well trained, sweet and open, always wishing to relate to visitors.
It is empowering for trauma inflicted and neurodiverse clients to successfully learn to navigate gentle changes of circumstances and respond to the unexpected while being directly supported to stay calm and feeling in control.
It nurtures the development of agency, responsiveness and responsibility. As has been observed over a longer period, that greatly enhances engagement and expression in the clients.

Awareness in movement of equine assisted therapy supports the engagement and social control in verbal expression as a significant capacity building component of trauma informed counselling.
Stress & anxiety is being reduced over a wider area of the clients’ lives based on increasing trust in themselves, body awareness and reading of body language, increased acceptance of boundaries and improved motor skills.
